Ideally, if you are trying to create desktop applications, then PHP is not really the best language to use, as it will have trouble developing the graphical user interface. There is however, a method of getting this done with the PHP if you know the program well. This is done with PHP GTK, this will allow for those programs to be written for client side applications. Cross platform applications can be done in a snap, with this sort of operation. The PHP GTK is not readily available through distribution, there is information on the main PHP website that can give you the push in the right direction if this is what you are looking for.

Easy Link Manager is a great little widget type tool that will help you create 301 redirects quickly and neatly. I can't tell you how many times I get requests for help setting up 301 redirects or questions about cloaking affiliate links. Sure you can learn to do it manually by editing your htaccess file but Easy Link Manager will ensure your links work correctly and keep links organized. You can make long, ugly affiliate links look pretty, brand your site, and to some extent discourage affiliate commission theft. Affiliate Link Manager isn't as powerful as my favorite cloaking tool, "Gotrythis", but it's a low cost, buy it once, and install on as many sites you own solution... at a price that anyone can afford. Easy Link Manager doesn't provide a link cloak after the link is clicked like Gotrythis and other link cloakers. There are times though you may not want to use cloaking as it may violate the policies of the affiliate system and cause you to lose sales if iframes are forbidden.
